Today is March 25th, and welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I’m your host, Andrew McGivern, and I’m happy you are here with me today.

Today, we’re celebrating National Tolkien Reading Day, a day dedicated to reading and appreciating the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, the mastermind behind “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”. It’s a day when fans of Middle-earth can unite, or should I say, form their own fellowship, to dive into the rich worlds and languages Tolkien created.

Now, I’m not saying you need to learn Elvish, but hey, it wouldn’t hurt, right? Our quote for today ties beautifully with the spirit of Tolkien Reading Day. It’s from Tolkien himself – I know, we already had a quote from Tolkien back on January 9th but this quote is actually from the Wizzard, Gandalf…

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

This line, spoken by Gandalf, is not just a nudge to make wise choices; it’s a profound reminder of our own journeys and the decisions we face daily.

Tolkien’s worlds were filled with characters facing immense challenges, yet they found strength in camaraderie, wisdom, and the belief in something greater than themselves. Just like Frodo and Sam’s journey to Mount Doom, our lives are made up of small steps and decisions that shape our path.

Today, on Tolkien Reading Day, we’re reminded that our time is precious, and how we use it can turn our own story into an epic adventure. So, as you go about your day, think about the time given to you. Are you using it to chase your passions, to cultivate friendships, or to embark on your own adventure, no matter how big or small?

Remember, it’s the simple acts and choices that can lead to the most extraordinary journeys. Thank you for joining me on this Tolkien-inspired journey today. I hope it has inspired you to make the most of your time and maybe even crack open a Tolkien book. Until next time, remember to make each day count, just as if you were journeying through Middle-earth.
