Today’s quote is from George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel.

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831) was a German philosopher and one of the most influential thinkers of the 19th century. His work explored history, freedom, consciousness, politics, and the development of human thought. He's best known for his complex philosophical system and his influence on later thinkers, including Karl Marx, Søren Kierkegaard, and Friedrich Nietzsche.

George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel once said…

“Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion.”

Now, when Hegel talks about passion, he's referring to something deeper than simply being excited about something or feeling enthusiastic.

He's talking about a concentrated commitment of our time, energy, and effort toward something that really matters to us.

And I think that's an important distinction.

Passion gives our hard work a purpose. When we genuinely care about something, we're much more willing to invest the time and energy it takes to make it happen.

Of course, that doesn't mean everything will be easy. Every worthwhile pursuit comes with setbacks, frustrations, and moments when we question whether we're on the right track.

That's where passion can make all the difference.

It gives us something to come back to when things get difficult. Almost like a North Star, it helps keep us moving in the right direction, even when the path isn't exactly what we expected.

And passion isn't just important for our own achievements. It can also influence the people around us.

If you're leading a team, for example, your enthusiasm and commitment can be contagious. When people see that you genuinely believe in what you're doing, it can inspire them to get involved, contribute, and work toward a common goal.

But here's something worth remembering: not everyone starts out knowing exactly what they're passionate about.

Some people discover their passion early in life. Others find it along the way.

Sometimes it starts with simply trying something new. You get involved, develop a skill, improve over time, and discover that you really enjoy it. Before you know it, something that started as a casual interest has become a genuine passion.

And your passion doesn't have to be your career, either.

It could be a hobby, a sport, a cause, a relationship, a creative pursuit, or just something that makes your life more meaningful.

So think about something you've accomplished that you're genuinely proud of.

Chances are, it wasn't just a matter of putting in the hours. There was something about it that mattered to you. Something that made you want to keep going, even when things got difficult.

And if you're still searching for that something, don't wait around for passion to magically appear.

Get involved. Experiment. Try new things. Give yourself the opportunity to discover something that really gets you excited.

So here’s the question:

What are few new things you can try this week that you think might be interesting or fun or stimulating? Try one of them and maybe you can generate a spark.

You might just discover a passion you didn't even know you had.

Because passion gives hard work a purpose, and purpose gives us a reason to keep going.

That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern signing off for now, but I'll be back… tomorrow! Same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote.
