Before we get to today's quote, here's a little background on the author. T. Harv Eker is a Canadian entrepreneur, author, and motivational speaker best known for his work on personal finance, wealth psychology, and mindset. He is the author of ”Secrets of the Millionaire Mind,” a book that explores the beliefs and habits he argues can influence our financial behavior.
Today's quote comes from T. Harv Eker's ”Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”:
”Poor people choose now. Rich people choose balance.”
Now, before we go any further, Eker isn't saying that people with less money are somehow less valuable.
He's talking about a mindset.
And the mindset he's describing is the temptation to choose immediate gratification over long-term goals.
We all face that choice.
Spend the money now—or save and invest it.
Watch another episode—or work on the goal you've been talking about.
Take the easy option—or do something that will benefit you later.
There's nothing wrong with enjoying life today.
In fact, balance is the key word.
The goal isn't to sacrifice everything now so you can hopefully enjoy life someday.
It's about finding a way to enjoy today while still making choices that protect your tomorrow.
A little discipline today can create more freedom later.
A little saving today can create more options tomorrow.
And a little investment in yourself today can pay dividends for years to come.
So here's the question:
What is one thing you could enjoy today while still making a choice that benefits your future self?
Because financial success—and perhaps life success in general—isn't necessarily about choosing between today and tomorrow.
It's about learning how to make room for both.
Remember, you don't have to give up everything you enjoy today. Just make sure that today's choices aren't stealing all of tomorrow's possibilities.
That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern signing off for now, but I'll be back… tomorrow! Same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote.
