Welcome to the Daily Quote, the podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, and this episode is brought to you by the Great News podcast. Because great news should be heard, and the link is right here in the show notes.
Today's quote is a modern saying attributed to Bruce Lee.
Bruce Lee was a Hong Kong-American martial artist, actor, philosopher, and filmmaker who lived from 1940 to 1973. Beyond revolutionizing martial arts through his philosophy of Jeet Kune Do, he inspired millions with his writings on discipline, personal growth, and living with intention. His influence extends far beyond the world of martial arts.
Today's quote, often attributed to Bruce Lee, is:
”Remember: If it doesn't bring you peace, profit or purpose, then it doesn't deserve your time, energy or attention.”
We all have the same twenty-four hours in a day.
The difference is how we choose to spend them.
It's easy to become distracted by endless notifications, unnecessary arguments, and commitments that leave us feeling drained rather than fulfilled.
This quote offers a simple filter for making better decisions.
Does this activity bring you peace?
Does it contribute to your goals or provide value?
Does it give your life a sense of purpose?
If the answer is no, it may be worth asking whether it deserves as much of your attention as you've been giving it.
Of course, not every responsibility in life is exciting or profitable. We all have obligations that simply need to be done.
But outside of those responsibilities, we have more choice than we often realize.
The more intentionally we invest our time and energy, the more meaningful our lives become.
So here's the question:
What could you say ”no” to today so you can say a bigger ”yes” to what truly matters?
Remember, your time is one of your most valuable resources. Spend it on the people, pursuits, and priorities that bring peace, purpose, and lasting value to your life.
That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern signing off for now, but I'll be back… tomorrow! Same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote.
