George Washington lived from 1732 to 1799 and served as the first President of the United States. He was also the commander of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War and is remembered for his leadership, integrity, and commitment to public service. His example helped establish many of the traditions of the American presidency.
Today's quote, widely attributed to George Washington, is:
”It is far better to be alone than to be in bad company.”
The people we spend time with have a powerful influence on our lives.
They shape our habits.
They influence our attitudes.
They can encourage us to pursue our goals or distract us from them.
Sometimes, we stay in unhealthy friendships, relationships, or environments simply because we're afraid of being alone.
But solitude isn't the same as loneliness.
Time alone can be an opportunity to reflect, grow, and reconnect with what truly matters.
And when we value ourselves enough not to settle for bad company, we make room for healthier relationships built on trust, respect, and encouragement.
The right people won't drain your energy.
They'll inspire you to become your best self.
So here's the question:
Are the people you spend the most time with helping you grow, or pulling you away from the person you want to become?
Remember, it's better to wait for meaningful company than to accept relationships that diminish your peace, your values, or your potential.
