Today's quote is from an unknown author:
”We are afraid of not knowing what comes next, and so we make our lives predictable. Don't be afraid of what comes next. You'll be okay.”
Think about how much of our lives are built around predictability.
We develop routines.
We make plans.
We establish habits.
And there's nothing wrong with that.Predictability can make life easier.
But sometimes, we become so attached to knowing what's going to happen that we stop ourselves from experiencing what could happen.
We stay in the same job we don’t like because it's familiar.
We stay in the same routine because it's comfortable even if it isn’t good for us.
We avoid taking a chance because we can't guarantee the outcome.
But here's the thing about the future:
None of us actually knows what's coming.
And that's not necessarily something to fear.
It's also what makes life interesting.
And if you are too locked into your routine you will stay stuck in a life you might not want.
You become trapped by your habits that aren’t helping you grow.
The next opportunity could come from somewhere you never expected. But you have to be willing to act on it.
The person you meet tomorrow could change your life.
The decision that feels scary today could eventually become one of the best decisions you've ever made.
Sometimes we don't need to know exactly what's next.We just need to trust that we'll be able to deal with it when it arrives.
So here's the question:
What are you avoiding simply because you don't know how it will turn out?
Maybe it's time to loosen your grip on certainty.
Take the chance.
Try something different.
Step into the unknown.
You might discover that what's waiting for you is better than anything you could have planned.
Remember, you don't have to know what's coming next to move forward. Sometimes you just have to trust yourself enough to find out.
Habits can lock you in so why not cultivate a habit of trying new things and running personal experiments.
And you'll be okay. More than ok.
That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern signing off for now, but I'll be back… tomorrow! Same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote.
