Clinton Ward – “You’re probably pretty good at imagining worst-case scenarios… Instead of assuming the worst, think of the best-case scenario.”
byAndrew McGivern - Motivational Quotes and Daily Inspiration | Quote of the Day

Welcome to the Daily Quote, the podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, and this episode is brought to you by the Great News podcast. Because great news should be heard, and the link is right here in the show notes.Today's quote comes from Clinton Ward:”You're probably pretty good at imagining worst-case scenarios… Instead of assuming the worst, think of the best-case scenario.”Many of us have a remarkable ability to imagine everything that could go wrong. Before a job interview, we imagine being rejected. Before a difficult conversation, we imagine conflict. Before trying something new, we imagine failure. But here's the interesting thing: those scenarios usually exist only in our minds. This quote challenges us to flip the script. What if, instead of automatically assuming the worst, we considered the best possible outcome? What if the interview goes great? What if the conversation strengthens the relationship? What if taking that chance leads to an opportunity you never expected?Of course, life doesn't always deliver the best-case scenario. But it rarely delivers the worst one either.A more positive outlook won't guarantee success, but it can give you the confidence to take action. So here's the question: What opportunity might you pursue today if you focused on the best-case scenario instead of the worst?Sometimes the future looks brighter when we stop predicting disaster and start imagining possibility. That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern signing off for now, but I'll be back… tomorrow! Same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote.

Here are the latest great news stories from greatnewspodcast.com, brought to you by the Daily Quote, a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way.

I'm Andrew McGivern, and this is the Great News Podcast.

First up, our lead story:

A new weapon in the fight against superbugs.

Researchers at the University of Oxford have developed a ”smart living drug” that can hunt down and destroy deadly, antibiotic-resistant bacteria in a single day. Instead of traditional antibiotics, which are becoming less effective, they used ”SimCells” (short for simple cells).

  • Italian firms are deploying humanoid robot welders to shipyards. Equipped with ”Physical AI,” these robots will work alongside humans to handle repetitive, dangerous tasks, improving safety and production quality.
  • Scientists at Harvard’s Wyss Institute have created ”Neurobots”—tiny living robots made from frog cells that have their own integrated nervous systems.
  • An online supermarket in Belgium is testing the Clevon 1, a fully driverless delivery robot. It navigates narrow city streets to bring groceries directly to customers' doors via a 5G connection.
  • A new study suggests that microplastics in the environment may be overestimated because standard lab gloves (nitrile and latex) can shed particles that look identical to plastic under a microscope.
  • Scientists discovered that depleting the gut microbiome in aged mice actually reversed aspects of brain aging, improving memory and vascular density, suggesting that targeting ”microbial inflammation” could be a non-invasive way to promote cognitive resilience.

That’s it for today’s episode of Great News. Until next time, I'm Andrew McGivern. Keep looking for the good in the world, because it's not only there, it’s everywhere.
